“Reino Ermitaño is, for me, a concept that has to do with poetry, existentialism, nature, magic and inner change. It`s about personal isolation from what`s common and "socially expected/accepted." The name of the band (Hermit Kingdom) leads to this idea of a kingdom of solitude, a fortress of fortitude in an urban, "modern" society while living beyond its rules in an unviolent way.” Tania Duarte
Formed in Lima, Peru, in late 2001 Reino Ermitaño has released two albums on two different labels before finding a home on I Hate for their third master piece Rituales Interiores. Both the self titled debut and Brujas Del Mar contained strong, native-folksy vibes and made for truly unique Doom Metal experiences:
“They move effortlessly between moods, frequently in the same song. 'Curandero De Una Realidad Incierta' opens with a doomy riff St. Vitus or Acid King would be proud of, with vocalist Tania Duarte going a bit more over the top than she has before, combining Lori Acid King doominess with distorted old crone singing that sounds like ole' Meg Knuklebones from the classic Ridley Scott film Legend...Try Sabbath, Pentagram, St. Vitus, Celtic Frost, Witchcraft and Acid King added to a solid foundation in the classics composed of the likes of Budgie, Tull, and Motorhead, then add in a host of Peruvian bands you've never heard of.” - Kevin McHugh - www.hellridemusic.com.
REINO ERMITAÑO - RITUALES INTERIORES CD OUT NOW!
Rituales Interiores sees a band matured in every way compared to earlier efforts. Especially developed is the most crucial thing of all, namely the song writing, which is more to the point this time- clearer, more stripped down structures makes for catchier, more memorable songs, it’s that simple. And with an emphasis on expressing pure heaviness such a potent formula in the hands of Reino Ermitaño can only result in one of the most exotic and fresh sounding True Doom albums in a long time! Another thing that needs mentioning is Tania’s vocals which are rock solid here, she has really grown as singer and securely deliver the Spanish lyrics with her unique, expressive voice that transmits melancholy as well as dominance, sometimes adding a twist of defiance to the brew. Yes, it is hard to righfully describe her vocals so listen for yourself and forget our pr-mumbo, however true it may be to us...A third thing we feel the need to inform the listener of is that we really dig the earthy, organic and warm production, it really strengthens the feeling we have that these songs were created in a candle-lit southern abyss filled to the brim with Santerian mysticism...
