UK´s oldest Thrash band, formed in -82. It is a bit funny about the similarities with German Thrashers Necronomicon. Both bands started of heavily influenced by punk, and by the time for the first vinyl-release both managed to come up with totally excellent releases sounding rather similar. This Chinese re-release collects the -86 “Path to Destruction” -mini LP, the 1984 “Speedwell”-demo (here punk-influences can be clearly heard) + 4 live tracks. If one should compare think of mentioned Necronomicon’s excellent debut LP or the first “Sentence of Death” MLP by Destruction, and maybe also the first (raw sounding) Running Wild LP but with British-sounding vocals, to get near a sound description. Simply a must!

FORSAKEN – After the Fall CD I HATE
Doom metal band Forsaken has remained one of the most consistent and long-standing bands in Malta's metal scene. Formed in 1990, the acclaimed first demo was released in 1991 and led to a great deal of interest in the band and the release of a 7" entitled "Virtues of Sanctity" by French independent label Arkham Productions two years later. After concentrating on and perfecting their live show for a couple of years the band signed to Maltese record label Storm Records and released their debut album "Evermore" in 1997, a more traditional heavy metal oriented record. After a couple of years of tribulations the band regrouped and decided on returning to the epic doom metal sound for which they are most recognized. They recorded and released their second demo simply titled "Demo 2002" and were promptly signed by Scottish Golden Lake Productions which led to the subsequent releases of an MCD, "Iconoclast" (2002), a second album called "Anima Mundi" (2004) and a third full-length, "Dominaeon" (2005). Golden Lake also re-released "Evermore" in 2005.
"After the Fall" is thus Forsaken's fourth opus released by I HATE and is utterly grandiose, heartfelt and compelling epic doom. The masterful, dynamic musical density together with the religious and deeply allegorical lyrics, dealing with Christian doctrines, combine into a very sacrosanct nature. Not that this album treads lightly on the floor of the Temple of Doom. Nay, it's heavier than a thousand old Bibles and the 15th century printing press with which they were made; burdening the shoulders of all men, the penitent and the defiant sinners alike. How can that leave any true doom enthusiast disappointed? It comes perfectly packaged, topped off with the beautiful cover artwork made by Jowita Kaminska

They have indeed! Returned, I mean. Iron Man started out as a Sabbath tribute band before taking the step into writing songs of their own. However the band’s creative force and guitar god Al Morris III - he is, trust me and everyone else who says it; hell, even Lee Dorrian of Cathedral wanted to recruit him as lead guitarist - has been in the game a lot longer than that playing the heavy for the love of Black Sabbath since the late 70’s. And the other band members aren’t newbies either, meaning they actually have nothing to prove to anyone. Unappreciated and unrecognized by the masses, but definitely being at the top of the Maryland doom scene, Iron Man must get their due this time around. The riffs, man, the riffs! Bursting out from the underground "I Have Returned" is one of the best albums of 2009.
